Hi.

I bought some two sticks of DDR3 RAM off the MM. I got two sticks of a triple RAM pack. No bother, everything works fine.

So now I am thinking of getting another two sticks to make 8GB in total.

The RAM I got from MM is this stuff:

I have seen some other XMS RAM with identical specs:

Would it be ok to combine the two over 4 slots?

Mobo is a Asus m5a97 R2.0

Cheers.

You don't want to mix 2x2GB with 1x4GB really. Also if you're on Piledriver, you'd be better off getting 1600-1866MHz RAM (2x4GB) instead and selling what you have.

Hi.

Ah I see. I didn't realise it was one 4GB stick. I have found something pretty much identical to my RAM (http://www.corsair.com/tw3x4g1333c9a.html) Would that be fine for my system with the 4GB I already have?

No no I'm not on Piledriver mate (wish I was). I'm running a Phenom ii. Also, this build was only a budget job, for casual gaming and such, so I don't really need faster RAM.

Cheers.

Yeah, there won't be any issues using two RAM sticks that use the same timings, speed and voltage as the other two.
