I have u-torrent installed on the main pc and downloads are very fast (ports are free and ok)

The pc downstairs is connected to the main pc via crossover cable @ 100meg. Internet connection is fine and download speeds are very fast but when i do the port forward checker in the utorrent program, it says its not ok.

I have unblocked the firewall for utorrent on both pc's and its still coming up with this.

Its very rare but some days i can download 50-100kb/sec then i restart and i can bearly get 10kb/sec and sometimes i will not get any download what so ever. Even though i have 1000+ seeds on a particular file.

Any ideas what to do, i dont know much about unblocking it manualy? opening ports up? if someone could point me in the right direction that would be great/

Well, on the main pc there are 2 network ports on the motherboard. From the 2 ports, one goes to the pc downstairs and the other to the xbox 360.

This is setup via bridged connection on the main pc. Also ICS has been enabled.

I have just switched on u torrent and the port forward is OK now and is downloading at 230kb/sec. But if i turn it off and turn it back on the port forward wont be ok.

AND the same port number is kept, at this moment in time its UPNP 38855 ok!

Do you think its something to do with my isp (btyahoo) ?

Why not just buy a cheap router, would be better than using a crossover cable. I had no end issues using a similar method as you described. Soon as i bought a Netgear DG834 router, they all disappeared.
