I've been looking at getting a mesh wireless system for the home. I quite like the look of the Google Wi-fi product but it's not yet available in the UK and there's no apparent release date yet. My employer has a US office which means I can order US equipment, get it delivered to them and then get them to ship it over to me in the UK.

Are there any issues with using US wireless equipment in the UK? Such as different wireless channels etc.

Doesn't that require a wired backhaul? I've read reviews of the Ubiquiti HD kit but it doesn't seem to be rated well against other products.
What do you mean by backhaul? Each AP needs a Cat 5 going to it but that's how they're powered.

The products are fine and many happy owners on this forum.

Guess that trumps everything.

pretty much. I don't know what you can do as a ham though, but ultimately whatever you try to connect with (phone etc) will also have to comply with UK/EU and thus be lower powered. There was a hack for one of the old BT routers a few years back - but was pointless for the same reason :(
