I've got a HP proliant windows 2011 server running on my desktop. I never actually get to utilise the server much at all.

I've started doing some web based consulting and need to have a landline phone number to give a good impression of my business, skype gives you a landline number for £15 for 3 months or something. Can't beat that.

I want to hook it up to my always on server (requires USB connection). Was wondering will the skype/voup phone work if the host machine does not have a soundcard, or does the handset handle it's own sounds?

If it doesnt work I guess I could stretch to getting a half height soundcard (as long as it doesn't get more than 30 degrees celcius hot, as I want to keep the rig quiet.

Also any recommendations for skype/voip handsets? I have a SIP voip account that I want to use as well.
