I see there's a reciever you can buy for the pc so you can use a wireless xbox pad, but can you use the same pad for pc/xbox without having to pair it or whatever each time you use the pad for pc/xbox ?

.....I imagine you would end up switching the xbox on if you pressed the Xbox button?

Pretty sure you have to pair the xbox pad with your pc before you can use it which then stops it from controlling your console (same behaviour as when you have two xb's in the house)

I know you can get a wireless reciever but im not sure about wether it needs syncronised each time, sorry.

has to be sync'ed every time.
I bought mine to use my 360 headset whilst online on the PC and because of this my receiver has been sat on a shelf ever since gathering dust :(

TBH i got the wired one for the pc, most people sit right next to their pc and the cable is really long any way. I have my xbox right next to the pc and leave the controller the pc 24/7 no problems and does not effect the xbox
