Hi,

I bought a Billion 8700n wireless router last week and have my adsl connection and network set up. I had to move the router to the front room though, so now reception at the back of the house and in the garden has gone. I'd like to use my old Linksys WRT54GL to extend the wireless, so that wherever you go in the house devices will automatically jump to the strongest signal without any intervention.

I have Tomato currently installed on the Linksys, and latest Billion firmware 1.06g. I've had a play with the settings, trying to use WDS on the Linksys and Billion, but no luck so far. I've had my phone connect to the Linksys but the internet wasnt working.

What are the settings supposed to be? Should both devices be set to the same wireless channel? Same encryption and password on both I assume? Should I change the firmware on the Linksys?

Thanks.

Thanks. I've just finished putting DD-WRT on and setup the linksys as a repeater bridge. It's working, but the tutorial I followed said to set the SSID to something different than the primary one. So when I move around the house or into the garden you have to manually change. Can it be setup so the same SSID used and devices just jump to the strongest signal?
