Is it possible?

I've got a wired controller and I've installed the drivers. But there's no controller options in the settings and I can't use it when I start a game. Sorry if this has been brought up before, googleing yields far too many irrelevant results.

Thanks

edit: also, random question. Does having Fraps enabled (so I can view fps) slow the game down at all?

1 more thing. When I installed Oblivion with my X1800XT, it popped up saying "Game settings defaulted to Ultra High settings" (or something like that). I've uninstalled it since, but when I reinstalled with my HD 3850 Pro 512mb, the message was "Game settings defaulted to Medium settings". Why is that? :(

This software provides gamepad support for many games,Oblivion being one.http://www.pinnaclegameprofiler.com

This thread in the official forums should sort you out.

Yeah I came across that while searching. Looks good.

However I found something called Xpadder which is free and seems to do the job. Don't know how to set multiple functions for 1 key though. So for example, X (on the 360) sheaths/brings out weapon and drops items when in the journal. I can't figure out how to make it do those things, it can only do one at a time. Not too bothered though, I just replaced the right analogue stick button (normally change view) to shift + left click.

Thanks though. If this doesn't work out well I'll probably just pay the tenner and get that.

You can try it out free for a month,it's definitely worth a try,I've been using it for pc gaming from the sofa on my HTPC and HD TV,i've found it works really well.

Do you have Oblivion installed?

Or any other game that has multiple actions for the same button?

Hows the support with that? Because the only reason I'd buy it is so I can have multiple actions for the same button.

Not 100% sure on that but I'm fairly sure you can,the pinnacle admin keep an eye on the official forums so ask the question in there,if you download the free trial and install the Oblivion profile you'll soon know.

If the software can support a game such as Oblivion which has umpteen keyboard actions then it's pretty certain that various actions can be mapped to the same key.

On second thoughts yes,you can do as you ask,I'm currently running through Hitman Blood Money using the official pinnacle profile for the 360 controller, the X key if held down will bring up the inventory and if tapped will hide the currently equipped weapon.

Surely though a mouse and keyboard would be the better option?

Buy it on 360 if you want the dumbed down unresponsive version of the game

Ah, forgot about the trial. I'll check it out, thanks.

No, it's far less fun on the mouse and keyboard.

I have it on the 360 and I enjoy it a lot. The only reason I'm playing it on the PC is because of the all of the mods. I still get rubbish performance (even on my dissapointing HD 3850 Pro "Xtreme" 512MB) though.

Oblivion kills hardware - get used to it!

As for the driver thing, Ob will usually default screen settings to medium when you install a new card or new drivers. The only time it doesn't is the first time you install the game.
