Hi guys,

Is it possible to utilize the hardware on my XPEnology server to encode video?
90% of the time my haswell i3 is doing nothing and I would prefer to use this rather than pushing my laptop to the max for hours on end.

Regards

I believe he wants to dump the rip to the NAS and it spits out an encoded mkv. If you have an esxi host set-up then you could install a vm to do this, if not i'm not aware of a suitable plugin to do it.

Does xpenology have ssh access?

If it does you might be able to build makemkv from sources to rip bluray/DVDs and then use handbrake if you can build that from sources to encode.

Depending what you use for playback then encoding may not be needed
