Want to to order something from the US to the UK and need it by the 11th.
Do you reckon it'll come by then? If it were any other month, I wouldn't be concerned; but with Christmas just gone and New Year coming, I'm not sure whether or not it would.

Anyone dealt with a situation like this before?

I ordered some watercooling parts from no competitors in the US, they posted it in 15th December. It arrived to the UK in the 21/12. It is still with the UK's Customs. Damn they are slow especially this time of the year. Same service as you ask "Priority Mail International Parcels".

Panting like a fiend
I had an item sent from the US on the 13th, it apparently was attempted for delivery on the 24th but I suspect they ran out of time.
So it's probably at my sorting office (if it doesn't arrive tomorrow I may pop down and see what they say).

Might be worth using a courier?

I had something dispatched in Los Angeles on the Friday, and delivered to my door on the Monday. 3 days for 5,000 miles. Not bad FedEx!

In the exact same predicament, sent from Canada though but arrived on the 21st and is sat at GBLALA which I assume is the airport.

Purchasing from a small time company and so they only offer 2 services.
USPS Priority being the fastest.

Unfortunately the big delay in the transit will be customs here in the UK, who might get it dealt with in a few hours, or it might take more than a week. Given the time of year, the latter is much more likely.

Expedited couriers like FedEx (don't use them though!), UPS and DHL speed things up partially by having their own sorting houses and planes, but mostly by having their own offices at HMRC where they expedite packages through in a more timely fashion, which they then bill you for later.

GBLALA is the International Mail Processing Centre code for Langley, UK (Heathrow World Distribution Centre for Royal Mail).

They've probably been quite busy.
