I have a Q6600 @ 3.3Ghz
I have a 4870 and a crossfire capable 1600fsb DDR2 and 3 capable motherboard that will take 16 gig
4 gig of OCZ platinum
2x 500 gig samsung drives.

and i run a nice HP w2207h screen.

usually i upgrade the board chip and GPU at least once a year but im looking around and honestly, for the first time in my 12 years of owning a pc, struggling to find a reason to...

my encoding times are fantastic compared to my old opteron 170, all my games past and current run beautifully, my systems stable and speedy.

its a rather odd sensation, Just feels like my hardware purchases last time around were far in advance of the power i would need over the next 24 months from purchase date.

so, unless anyone knows of anything major happening on the gaming front, i may just buy another 4870 come august and stick with a crossfire set up till mid next year.

anyone else feel like this?

lol seems like you did a good job on your last upgrade. Unfortunately i'm not in the same boat as you :(. However DX11 on the horizon excuse for upgrade coming soon :D

But nothing will use DX11 for a while... so you will be safe for the next year or so. Look at teh slow uptake on DX10 :)

same boat here mate

q6600
8gb ram
P35 board

had these for over a year now, and can't justify changing them

260-216 (recently bought this)

the only thing I can consider upgrading is moving from my WD 640gb Blue to a 128gb SSD, but with sleep mode, my loading times aren't exactly large anyway, I'm always within the first 4 to spawn in L4D :)

so your within everyone who is joining the game? so that means you might be 4/4 on loading?

I dont like L4d loading anyway, my system takes ages (well, sort of, similar to my laptop) to load it the first time, then it only takes a few seconds every other time :)

My last upgrade was a 30" screen and a 295 - the consensus was that upgrading from the C2D would not make much of a difference so I'm going to stick with what I've got for the moment.
