Hi, I have came back to UT2004 after about 3 months, and I must say, I would have been enjoying it if it was not for lag, Its not just lag, its lag + stutter, now my X800XTPE could play this on max, I turned off 16xQAA/16xAF to see if that was the problem but no :s, now is it proberbly an incompatability with the game, or Nvidia driver?

Hmmm, It cant be my hardware, I mean, all thats changed is Mobo and GPU since I last played it.

My guess is that your 8800GTX is suffering from the performance issue too, so even though your getting smooth gameplay, the fps is really low to what you should get?

I dont know what to do, I really want to play UT2004, and if it means switching back to old hardware, then it may be what I have to do :\

its a know driver issue with all games running on UT engine. Do some googling for 8800 and stutters. Apparently the Vista drivers are better than XP for stutters

ive read a lot about this UT2004 + 8800 stutter issue and ive never come across it myself
and ive tried all the different driver releases since the 8800 came out

It must be with some setups, It wouldent surprise me if it was to do with my X-Fi and an Nforce 4 mobo tho.

Looks like I am gonna have to get Vista installed again just to run ut2k4 :\, I came away from Vista because I seen through its good looks and found it to be crap.

I have an nf4 dfi expert + xfi :p

Stay away from vista, 'tis be the spawn of the devil! :D

Weird thing now is, I was playing it ok yesterday :s, I was in the sniper servers and was not lagging at all.

Nope, my ping is around 150 though, but thats average for me now and usualy dont lag, It was deffenitly graphics lag.

Depends on the maps. Some are fine, some not. Same with the game RO that I play (UT engine). Theres a workaround in RO though..don't know what it does but it cuts down the choppyness by about 80% i'd say. You just turn down "World Detail" in options. Its takes out some weather effects, some grass, etc. Doesn't look that much worse with all the other options on maximum

Sorry, but 150 for a game like UT is WAAAAY too much, and that doesnt include any packet loss you might be experiencing.
At a ping of around 80, it's already unbearable, and you are almost double that, so i think your issues lay elsewhere, other than the 8800 or vista scape-goats tbh.

Why is your ping that high?

I dunno :s, even when its 80, I have never had anyone complaining, no difficulty playing and in a server today with like 18ppl, I was playing fine :s

Its proberbly AOL, yes AOL, please dont start going on about AOL, I know there crap.

I really dont think 80 is unbearable tbh. I only start to worry about ping when I start skippiong around or moving backwards by abit just like in a second etc..

The lag deffenitly is not ping, its like 300+ when its unbearable.

I guess 80 you may be able to live with, if you play ONS or Vehicle Assualt, but no DM based gametype.

And yea mate, but I'm sorry to say, I think it's your connection, and definitely not your hardware, why else would be ok one day and not the other?

LOL, I have been playing UT2004 for ages and I can say its not my connection, I have been playing fine in deathmatch, just since I got the 8800, I get lagging in servers sometimes.

My Connect is 3.2mbit
