UT3, any good?

It's great for small LANs and just have a quick blast, but it's not taking off at all. There needs to be a better player base, and for peope to have fun. It's not UT or UT2k4, so it will be different. Once you get used to the movement, it's not that bad. I also waited for ages for it to come, had it on pre-order for ages and wasn't happy with it when it came out.

After a break from it, I've gone back to playing it offline with my son and we're both having fun. He's too young to play online, and when I look, it's hard to find decent servers with people on, so I go back to offline against bots and my little boy.

There's still a fairly big community on Quake III. Now that game was awesome.

another 2004 vote here! used to love that game, still thrash it out online every now and then, not many people playing these days! disapointed with UT3 too, like someone said previously " it slower, more spammy"

The main reason I don't like UT3 is that it's recenlty stopped working.

I get the splash screen and nothing happens. Although CPU usage is really high. :'(

I've completely removed it and re-installed. Latest updates.

But still nothing.

It feels completely different from UT2004 in a bad way because UT2004 was really good. modders havent taken to it well and most of the communities have largely stayed on UT2004. Theres no Invasion mode, the whole game lacks colour and you cant even have 32player bot matches because its designed for the consoles, you can especially tell in the menus which are designed for controllers not mouse. =[ dissapointed

i found it a bit meh compared to the sticking power of tf2

i saw a copy on a very popular online media shop for £10 brand new

worth a go for that price

not my cup of tea tbh

especially compared to the last games

I prefer it over UT2004 on gameplay alone.
However it lacks the playercount and has an offputting UI.

Ditto, the game seems faster, the gameplay nailed and the graphics awesome. This coming from someone whose played and loved every version (except 2003) . Only quibble is the bad UI, which isnt actually terrible, but it just reaks of console.

Edit - Oh and 1 more quibble, NO ASSAULT MODE, are they thick ? The best mode in the damn thing .

And my issues with it are when they are trying to make the game into something its not.

Has anyone actually noticed somethign about it or is it just me?

Ok, we had unreal.

We then got UnReal Tournament... Cool

UnReal 2 came out, and that progressed from UnReal and thats cool.

We got UT2003 then thankfully they realised the mistake and brought out 2K4 to repair the damamge and this was cool

So, we have UnReal and then UnReal 2
We also have UT, then UT2K4 then UT3

Now, correct me on this, but the storyline of UT has completely lost it for me and even ruined the game.

Its a great storyline, I love it, but it does not go with a game like UT where you have to play it in this fashion.

Can anyone else have this same thought-line?

You see... I like the whole idea where there are places bought out just to wage these tournaments in... This worked for me.

But trying to follow the storyline and then play another round just failed to float my boat totally.
