UT3 Crashing

Have just bought the above game, glad to see the enforcer making a welcome return, though for whatever reason, it keeps freezing on me.

It seems to happen at random points and either allows me to CTRL ALT DEL or freezes up so much i have to hit the reset switch. Is getting very annoying now as i am on a particular single player campaign and it freezes before i can get to the end of it.

I have applied the latest patch, overclocked as per sig, stability isnt an issue as i have been folding on it for the last 4 days, 12 hours a day so it has been maxing the cores out for that period of time.

It seems to be happening more since i applied the patch however my mate is running the game with the patch also on a 4200 X2 and 1950XTX with no issues at all.

Any help is appreciated, or any one else with a similar problem.

Cheers for that, will give that a check and see if it is enabled.

Just as a side point, what does OpenAL actually do, if it was enabled?

Very funny supercow, it will be a long time before i go back to nvidia :D

Cheers for the help so far though. OpenAL was turned on so I disabled it. Seems better but still had a freeze happen. Seems to be a lot more frequent in the Warfare mode, as opposed to normal DM.

/Edit Right, have just completed the above mission now without a freeze up so the problem seems to have been resolved. I did notice that once i had turned off the OpenAL, i had left the quality settings in CCC on high, looking like that is why i got the random crash.

Will have to wait till i get my 3870s before turning the gfx up again :(

/Edit Scrap what i have just said, just got a crash in TDM online within about a minute so no idea what is going on now. Looks like a 3870XT is gonna be ordered sooner rather than later instead of waiting for the X2.

Quick update on the situation.

Although my processor was fully stable whilst folding 100% on each core, it looks like whilst UT3 is running it only stresses 2 of *** 4 cores and so was causing it to freeze up. Running at stock now and have had no problems as yet. Will have to re-do the overclock to get it stable methinks.

Schumin, if you have an Nvidia card, install the drivers specifically for UT3 as indicated by sup3rcrow above. The 169.28 beta drivers resolve a number of issues including freezing and crashing. Incidentally, I had major freezing and crashing until I set my RAM to run at default speed instead of linked and synced...

Nope, i have a 1950pro, so no driver fixes for me.

After eveything it looks like my overclock wasnt stable for whatever reason so will need to do find the time to go through it again.

Cheers for the suggestion anyways.

When is this damn OpenAL issue going to be fixed? Having it disabled means I can't utilise the potential of my X-Fi card!
