UT3 Demo - Friday

Yanto your system is seriously foobered up. I bet when its all sorted all your problems with games will be gone and you will be enjoying them all.

On your other topic, seriously get it checked at that store i mentioned. Oh and when u install vista again check the dvd see if its ok and the drives ok and check dvd of vista for dirt or scratches. It could be a bad vista disc hence all them times installin it will be causing the probs.

how much will the store you mentioned charge? and will they look at it since it wasn't bought from them, and isn't even a pre-built machine?

They will look at it, a full service costs £40 i think tho i duno if theres cheaper repair services, but no harm in askin with a phone call?

Im surprised other shops wouldnt have set it all up for you for a small charge of say a tenner tho, most do i think around my city center.

Shame you dont live near sunderland i perhaps might of been able to give it a look over for you.

Edit - hmm dont infact go to that store i mentioned i just read a artical about the poor service.

yeah, do you no what the pcworld service includes? is it a max charge of £40? or do you pay per hour aswell, presumably it doesn't include parts? and last time I'm looked they were charging £15 for ram installation!!!! so I'm just surprised a full system service is only 40.

this is the first time I've commented on this game as before I had major issues of it not saving settings in Vista as I have "my docs" planted on a separate HDD to the C drive so the game was not creating the gamer dirs as needed.

I manually created said dirs and all is well (it is a BETA after all!) :)

The game runs amazing, shame there is no FSAA but with VSYNC on I had no trouble keeping it above playable. I have to say it's the prettiest game I have played so far - the explosions, the speed, the animations, everything. They all just work so well and it's on my buy list as soon as it's released next to Crysis.

I was disappointed with COD4 demo and this is a refreshing change and am glad that the good feelings after TF2/Portal and Ep2 are set to continue with UT3.

You can always rely on the big devs, Epic, Valve etc!

BTW I thought the ETQW demo was a pile of (wee -ed).
 
i was having major trouble getting more than 30-50fps with this demo until i realised nHancer was running and forcing SuperSampling 16xs and Anistropic 16x ... since disabling it the game runs like a dream and i can finally shoot things with no mouse lag .. brilliant
 
Game works fine for me but i do have a really lame problem. If I play for over 15 mins and exit the game properly, it closes as it should and goes back to the desktop, cue a pause and then a nvidia driver related bsod :(

Used to happen with me, and sometimes crash when playing, so clocked my 8800GTX down a little (was highly OC'ed), now so far it hasn't happened. Just seems to stress the GPU more than most other games.
 
Dell 9200 e6600 2.4 stock, with 8600GTS OC stock, i get between 30-40fps at 1920 with effects on.

Looks phenomenal, card upgrade imminent to play this how it should be, still i was amazed to see how well it played on my budget card :)
 
Does the Collectors Edition of this game come with an art book? i read somewhere a while ago that it does but looking now im finding places just saying theres a dvd with an tutorial to use the Editor which i aint really interested in. Hardback art book would be nice though :)

UT3 loves the 8 series cards, even the lower ones
 
Grr, I have the standard package on order for £17.99.
Gonna have to cancel that now and get the collectors tin :p
