Just got this 2nd hand from my LGP and i cannot create a new account.

Could it be due to the fact someone else has used it online and could possibly not of uninstalled it properly?
 
Thanks for all the replies, i've managed to create an account in the end.

It didn't like my email for some reason, then it didn't like about 10 different user names! But i got there in the end.

I'm guessing i've maybe previously made a gamespy account through a different game and forgotten about it? Not sure, but i think i just panicked with it being 2nd hand and not being able to log in and not try other alternatives.
