How do!

Possibly a weird question, and more of a determination of "is it possible".

I have Cambrisdge Audio 640A, and Mordaunt Short 914i's with a BK Gemini Sub Active sub.

It sounds great, and i'm pretty happy with it - but feel the gemini is a bit weak, and doesnt really fill the bottom out enough (i do like bass). I dont wanna drop a wedge on a better hifi sub, as tbh i dont have it on all the time.

Now its a 150w amp, with an 8" driver and just doesnt have the depth despite fiddling with the gain/crossover and frequency. So i got to thinking, i have a FLi 12" sub in enclosure with a 300w mono-amp which used to rattle my Celica to bits - but it takes a DC 12v signal.

Do people think it would be worth the expense to buy an inverter (or whatever i need) to power and feed the sub? Or am i most likely remembering more fondly/enclosed space improved its sound?

An equivalent HiFi setup is about £400.

Thoughts opinions appreciated.

EDIT: I could also alternatively use the Gemini amp wired into the FLI sub to overcome the AC/DC issues, but i fear the 150w amp wouldnt cut it?

EDIT 2: Maybe the Gemini amp would cut it, as its an 8 ohm amp, 150W which would be 300W at 4 ohm??? (typical car range). That could be the best option...

it does work well speakers, my mate used car subs in his bedroom and they sounded great.. not sure about the amp but i guess i see no reason why it wouldnt work. I'd just chop an old 12v phone charger up and wire it up that way, just make sure you earth it right lol

gonna need 60amps, not something a phone charger can provide lol, but i'm thinking a car battery to test the theory is a better way to start.

In theory (read: on the internets) one can use an old PC PSU (search youtubes) to power a car amp indoors. I have no idea how safe that is though..

why not just add another gemini for £204? http://www.bkelec.com/HiFi/Sub_Woofers/gemini.htm

surely this would be better and safer than messing with car parts?

No it most certainly wouldn't, complete waste and even more hassle having x2 subs in regards to setting up.

If you really want a bigger sub then sell the Gem and buy an XLS400 or even monolith. I did that after found the Gem just didn't pressurise my room at home and was too small. Monolith on the other hand :D:D:D
