Is there a utillity where you can demostrate what a lower PPI monitor would look like? I have a monitor with 94PPI and the monitor I'm considering has 84PPI (34" 2560x1080)
I'm using a samsung 24" 1920x1200 monitor now, and my previous monitor was a philips 20" 1680x1050

Funnily enough I thought the Philips looked more pixelly but in fact it's 6 PPI higher
The only experiences I have wit PPI are
40" 1920x1080 LCD TV
42" 1024x768 plasma TV
50" 1920x1080 plasma TV
It's weird how such a low PPI screen (42" plasma) still looks fantastic with uncompressed HD material- at TV viewing distances.
