Its only in alpha at the moment but a few months I'm sure a beta/release code will be knocking around. Will you switch from Transmission (or your current Mac torrent client) to uTorrent? Why/Why not?

I will be anyway I have uTorrent on my Windows XP machine and Transmission on my Mac. Transmission is lightweight as well but I have noticed that Transmission doesn't download as fast as uTorrent. I have no idea why and it doesn't make sense to me. Conventionally I would see it that they are clients thus client speed is based on available bandwidth and network performance not the code of the client. Can someone give me there two cent on this experience.

I will be changing. I have the same setup as you, uTorrent on Windows and Transmission on Mac. Find Transmission much slower and I hate how it takes so long to close!
 
does no one use vuze anymore? its the best ( aslong as you set it to the azureus layout )

I'm not saying its not good however I prefer lightweight torrents. I don't really need extra features. Just a download bar, availability bar and a few ratios and speed.
 
Azureus/Vuze would eat through the 2GB RAM on my MacBook within a few minutes :o

If uTorrent Mac gets up to feature parity with the Windows version then of course i'll switch from Transmission!
 
yeah i remember azureus on windows in the early days was a hog - I dont find it to bad personally and i like the settings and functions for it. Will try u torrent when it comes tho
 
I remember Azureus on Windows. Dear god that sucked CPU. Large memory hole too IIRC, so needed to be rebooted all the time.

uTorrent for Windows is just sex in a box. Not bothering with the Mac Alpha, until it's more stable (at least beta)

Transmission (which Im currently using) sucks unfortunately :(
 
Try opening the correct ports. The newer releases of Transmission have not been so kind in the automatic port mapping department.

Also, if you're doing a lot of "hit and runs" (i.e. you download the file and don't seed after it's completed) then you're probably on the bad peers blocklist ;)

That's the way it'll be for a while (for me). uTorrent has been in Alpha since the dawn of time. Last time I checked it was even being worked on anymore (they've abandoned it).
