Anyone else noticing utorrent is becoming more unreliable as the releases are pouring out?

I can't use the interent anymore when it's running, and it keeps refusing to shutdown. When it's running it's sporadic, sometimes runs quick other times runs like I have a 56k modem, when I have 20mb cable!

Looking for an alternative, I've had enough of it.
 
Nope haven't had any issues with it at all on Be ADSL2. Given all the threads on the updates to the throttling policies with cable internet products could your range of performance be due to that instead?
 
I can't even launch any interent program while it's running. I click Firefox, Thunderbird, IE, etc they don't respond... until I shutdown utorrent. Then they all launch.

I had problems when I first started using it but fixed them changing all the settings but it's just got worse over time and now I'm back to square one :(
 
i'm on measly normal adsl "upto 8mb" and no problems with utorrent here. i limit my upload to 30kb/s - if don't restrict it then browsing is affected.

are you absolutely sure it's not a problem with your connection or even the particular torrents you're downloading? :)
 
Not currently downloading, just seeding and getting my ratio utpo 1:1 ;)

I also limit upload speed to 30kb/s when I'm browsing and when I'm away I'll limit it to 60kb/s or sometimes I leave it unlimited. It seems to max out at 90kb/s anyway.
 
uninstall, make sure its clear (folders/reg), reinstall
should solve it.
or use azureus
 
Yes, why wouldnt you update? not like they are beta's.

Though I surpose 'if it aint broke, dont fix it!' But I dont think that really apply's here.
 
try changing the max connections and max connections per torrent that should sort it

When I had the lastest version on my Vista machine the net would slow down terribly even after tweaking as per lots of guides I read, after rolling back that all stopped, that's why I haven't updated :)

Although I may have another bash as that was on 1.7.5 I think
 
Hmmm, back to square one!!! :(

Internet slowing to a crawl and practically unusable whenever utorrent is running.

Settings:
Max Global Connections = 500
Max peers per torrent = 65
No. upload slots per torrent = 12
Max no. active torrents = 6
Max Download speed = 400kb/s
Max Upload speed = 40kb/s

Surely I should be able to use the net with those settings on a 20mb connection?
