utorrent strangling my net

When I'm running utorrent my main pc my network crawls basically to a halt, by this I mean it takes ages to log into the router (WRT54G running DD-WRT v23 SP2) & web browsing is painfully slow & usually times out, but transferring files between two pc's is unaffected. I've set the upload limit to 30k/s

Can someone tell me the optimal settings for app & router using blueyonder 4MB (384k up)

I've managed to sort this by limiting the global maximum connections to 150 from 230.

Yeah, it's nothing to do with upload limit as 30k/s is fine for 384k, netmeter will hover around 38 - 40k/s upload mark, browsing is a touch slower but still perfectly usable.
