Right guys, I'm almost ready to build my PC, finally (just waiting for my RAM to arrive). I'm planning on spending a little while doing up all the cables, painting them in some UV colour to give a contrast between them and the black PCBs.

Here's the question though, first off, does anyone have pictures of yellow cables on black PCBs? Second, I want to paint my cables but I don't want to paint directly on them, so any ideas what I can use to avoid doing this? I've thought about using insulating tape, wrapping it around the cables and then painting the tape, so if I want a change or whatever, I just peel the tape off. I know I can buy UV cables for SATA and the like, but not for PSU and case, hence why I plan on doing it this way. Finally, will any old UV paint do or should I go for a certain type?

why not just get a UV braiding kit, it'll look loads better than paint!!! I remember i did it to a psu etc years ago. ac ryan do a psu modding kit.

its a lot of work, done well it looks good, done wrong (like i did) it looks really bad.

Ah ok, I'm seeing lots of different diameters though, what diameters would I need for the PSU, SATA and so on? I'm thinking 10mm for PSU, 7mm for SATA and 4mm for the case wires?

if you get the proper kit it comes with everything, all different sizes, heat shrink tube. and a tool to get the wires out.

just use the smallest size that fit well for the best look.

Done this on a psu i had a few years ago, the kits really help as they have all the various braid/heatshrink youll need included

Shame abou my cable tidying skills though.

On mine i just added cable ties for a bit more strength after shrinking the heatshrink tubing. Though that psu and system is long gone now.

lol that look almost exactly like my old psu. same colour as mine too. although your's is a lot better than mine was.
