Hi, im just on the way home from uni and while i've been away I had my car SORN'ed, she's currently in the garage being MOT'ed. My question is with getting a new tax disc though, apparently I have to apply for a new license via a v10 form? Any ideas how long this process takes and how soon ill be able to have my car taxed and back on the road?

Cheers guys.

take the V10 form, V5c, MOT and insurance certificate to a post office and they'll give you tax immediately.

A V10 form can be printed off from the DVLA website or get one at the post office.

Yep, go to the Post Office and get a V20 form, fill in the details and a crisp £20 later you will have a new V5C.

ah crap, hate paying money for stupid forms. Iam pretty sure they send a free one at the tax renewal date but thats not till september, oh well :/

You can always lie and say it never turned up when you bought the car, "Yeah the bloke was well dodgy, I bet he's ringing cars..." or something.

No, you don't get a free replacement V5C unless you change owner or (I think) car details. You get a V11 when tax renewal is due.
