V1000B water-cooling log

im now using the pc :D

I really dont particularly want to use the fans or rad outside the pc, i like the whole thing to be closed up really.

There's a bit of a tornado in my res at the moment  i think the pump might have been a bit overkill... Trying to bleed this thing is a right pain in the wotsits..

After getting the whole thing together, i realised i had forgotton to plug in the front panel.. that was a pain in the arse too... then i went to turn it on... nothing :( light was on motherboard too, so not my usual trick of leaving the psu turned off... turns out i hadn't got the power switch in the right place... damn my heart was going then..

Any way, it's leak testing now, wont bother with any photos of that.. may have an update later.

(this pump is rather noisey.. but then again, that could be because i can't hear anything else in the PC ;))

final pic, don't have any dark shots yet, as the camera is a bit poo, and the UV cathode i have isn't very strong... but...:

Have done some testing too :D

before:

CPU: 3.6 @ 1.7v (unstable) = 70°c load, 43°c idle
CPU: 3.2 @ 1.5825v (stable) = 65°c load, 39°c idle
GPU: 630/2100 = 85°c load, 67°c idle

After:

CPU: 3.6 @ 1.7v (unstable) = 60°c load, 36°c idle
CPU: 3.2 @ 1.5825v (stable) = 55°c load, 34°c idle
GPU: 660/2100 = 60°c load, 47°c idle

Pretty happy with that :D

EDIT: Gotta do something with that res, i'll mod some kind of attachment to the bottom of the fan or something, then attach it to that i think.

Wasn't best pleased with the Fuzion block, after fiting the 1st tube and wormdrive clip, there was no space for the other tube to fit, managed to get it in with a LOT of persuasion, but not a chance in hell that i could fit another workdrive to it :(

Also, VERY happy with the cable management job i've done.. just wish the pci-e connectors were longer so i could do a better job.

Lastly, things to do:

Chnge those silly red sata cables for some nice black, or uv reacive ones
Attachment for res
uv lights (:D)
Case window
Southbridge cooler (im liking yous Rakiri, how does it perform?)
Some cable braiding me thinks.. can't find anywhere that stocks any though :\

ok... so i decided to have a play with my cpu clocks...

currently into 1 hour of orthos blend @ 4ghz @ 1.8v @ 58°c max temp seen..

i like :D

managed a 12800 on 3dmark06 at 3.6ghz and 660/2080 (doesn't seem to like 2100 any m ore :()

Definately woth the upgrade :D

i would have thought reduced life span, after all it hasnt suddenly died yet has it ? :p

If you want an excuse to get an quad then keep and at 1.8v, and if dies get a quad :) If your kinda short on cash and cant really afford a quad or to replace the cpu if it dies then id recommend lowering the volts

research mate... i didn't really have a clue before this...

I did get a cheapo kit, and a cheapo athlon xp rig just to have a play with at first to test the water with (excuse the pun)

When i was happy that it is pretty easy to setup, and how quiet it was (deciding factor) i went ahead and researched what is good and what isn't.. hopefully what i have is pretty good.. suits my needs and i'm happy with it :)

ok, it's been a while, but i had a bit of spare time this weekend, and decided to cut my window.

Now, i havn't filed it or sanded it or added the perspex (which i dont have... yet) but this is what it looks like: (excuse the quality)

Quite happy with that, there's about 1 inch from the bottom of the window, to the bottom of the 'compartment' of case, so i'll chuck in a UV cathode there, and it'll be out of sight :D

Also, i now have a bit of black aluminium to play with.. i'm toying eith the idea of a small window aplique, a 'v' or possibly my snake logo (the latter will be very fiddly, but could look rather nice) This aplique would go in one of the corners, don't want it covering up the whole of the window, just something small and out of the way.

Also, has anyone got any tips on the bare aluminium edges? i assume some black paint will do the job?

And, as an after thought, i was going to make a bracket to attach to my rear fan so that i could attach my res to.. i now have some aluminium in the same style as my case... i think i'll use this :D

I do have a heatsink for my southbridge now, but alas, the only way i can fit it is to remove the water cooling :( so i think another bottle of feser 1 is in order (i may get some blue stuff this time, it's looking a bit plain when there's no UV light in there..)

looks great - you're a few weeks ahead of me in the watercooling race

we have almost the same components as well.

what barbs did you use viper as that, the pump and tubing is what i've got left to order.

i don't have any waterblocks as of yet as i don't have a computer to install this one. waiting till better gfx cards come out for DX10 then i'll purchase me a new system.
