V317 / Number plate retention question

Hi All

I am about to sell my car, and want to transfer the private plate off the car onto a retention certificate.

I want the retention certificate in my wifes name, so that she owns the plate.

The form V317 is confusing

Should she be the nominee, or grantee, or both ?

Nobody can own the plate, it belongs to the dvla. To name her as the individual entitled to assign the plate to a vehicle I believe she needs to be the nominee.
