Hi chaps,

I'm after some general buyers advice for Volvo v70's.

My budget is 6k, I'm looking at 2.4 170 petrol or the 2.5t engines. I'm looking at se spec and would prefer automatics as I will be doing wafty motorway miles, I do approx 10-15k a year but this can vary year on year.

Does anyone have experience with these, or know of any things a potentialbuyer should beware?

Cheers.

Thanks for the response, off to look at a 2001 t5 with se lux pack tomorrow... will have a check at the bits you mentioned especially. Will let you know how I get on.

Cheers

Thanks for the responses, as for turning circle - it's a good thing to note but shouldn't be a problem for me really. The t5 is currently the favourite... admittedly I know it won't be great on fuel but besides anything else its one of those cars I just really want to own!

This is the car in question,

Can anyone pick it apart or...?

A quick update for you all, I picked up the t5 (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VOLVO-V70-T5-...4805226?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item230bfa406a )
after a 300 mile round trip.

It was a pleasant drive home and the weather held out so all good.

Poor quality phone pic, will get some proper ones once its had a good wash :)

1 Owner, FSH from Volvo, then independent Volvo specialist once out of warranty. 130k on the clock, very clean interior, all the toys... TV is sweet :D
Exterior is as you would expect from an 8 year old car. A few marks on the bumpers, alloys lightly curbed which I plan to fix come summer.
I paid £4200 for it so I'm happy.

Cheers for all the advice.

Burnsy, Have you had any experience with iPod integration? Mine has the hu-803 fitted if that makes any sense to you, or anyone else for that matter.
Cheers

Does anyone know the rough cost of the volvo supplied option and does it let you use the steering wheel controls? Also does it charge your ipod? This is important to me.

I have come accross Imiv already and will investigate that further too.

Thanks for the ideas chaps.

That's a fairly neat way of doing it! I want an system that charges it and shows some sort of info on the screen so it's not for me I don't think.

I agree, then screen does seem to angle down quite a lot. It might be an attempt to block out sunlight or maybe it's just for short people! :p

The nav works pretty well, the controls are on the right indicator stalk and are pretty easy to use. You can't enter postcodes, only addresses and streets which is ok. It's as much as can be expected from a <2002 nav unit I guess.
