i'm considering putting a v8 into this cossie i've bought.

only thing i can guarentee at the moment is it wont be a 3.5 rover. call me a snob but thats not a proper v8 to me.

was thinking v8s have to be american - so 5.7 chevy but what about the 5.0 fords they put in the SA sierras?

i'm only considering it.

other considerations are an 2.5 v6 from a gia x mondeo coz its free lol.

its a bit 'off the wall' i admit but i like v8s and love the sound. lol
its the noise more than anything.

with the help of a mate hes trying to convince to go cossie and reckons he could get 400bhp out of it without breaking open an engine but he insists it will be rebuilt prior to putting in and says it would run 350bhp all day long.

Ford small block would probably be easier to fit than a chevy as the dizzy is at the front on the ford, not at the back where it sits where the base of the windscreen probably wants to be. Chevy small block parts are cheaper though, and they can make better power AFAIK, I'm aiming for 400bhp from mine with new heads, camshaft and manifolds.

Both used the T5, same as the Cossy for their manual boxes at some point but bell housing bolt patterns will be different, may help with prop shaft lengths and splines though.

It would be cool but it does seem like an odd idea...

hmmm thanks for the input.
:)

I thank you all for your concerns about my state of mind and my bank balance. ;)

The internet can be a dangerous place if you believe everything on it to be 100% true lol

I am only considering it so asking for opinions/thoughts about it. Don't worry - before I decide it will be properly researched. :)

But you said you've bought it, so you are already doing something....

Yes, bought it. No plans to do ought this year and I'm not in a rush hence looking at options. :)
Just considering everything. :)

Main reason I bought is:
A) it has rs cosworth on log book and they are classics now so worth money regardless.
B) I bought it on a whim.
C)I know one of the most knowledgable guys around for cossies.

You appear to have spent the last 2 years dreaming about cars you can't afford, while running a £100 ford galaxy.

And now you've bought a stolen Sierra Cosworth with no engine it.

Can i be the Second to say WTF ???

you stalking me? ;)

never owned a galaxy, someone elses.

seriously considered the kit car idea and spent 6 months researching it and talking to suppliers etc - lot more than on the internet. ;) months before asking you lot. ;)

other ones were just curiosity. i get ideas of the internet but as i don't know any of you guys i go away to ask real people and research it. simples. ;)

monaro/bmw z4/boxster i could afford outright but bought a house instead which made them null and void lol.
XR2i - have you seen how much XR2s are now!? they're next to go up... ;)

thinking is cheap. ;)

when i don't think is when it costs money. :p

the cossie i bought coz the bodywork seemed sound (apart from small finger size hole in sill and finger size hole in boot - which has been verified by a mate who used to build XJ220s etc ;) ) and if i broke it it would be worth more money so i wouldn't lose on it as it were.
