VA vs IPS

Hi

I am looking for a second monitor for gaming. My current monitor is a VA 32" AOC panel. Great monitor but suffers from ghosting/smearing in dark areas while gaming.

What I want is an IPS, 31.5" panel or bigger, 2560x1440p, 144hz curved or none curved. However this does not appear to exist.

The closest I can find are 34" ultrawide IPS screens due out this month and 32" VA panels.

Are the higher end VA panels prone to ghosting/smearing?

Im not a fan of ultrawide monitors (letterboxes).

Do you use the q3279vwf? If so, just get the newer ips variant q3279vwfd8

Yea I do. No major gripes with it for what I paid other than the ghosting. It will be a fine monitor for me to do work tasks on.

I was considering the new Acer xv340ck as it measures at 37cm high which isn't too far behind the height of the AOC Q32.

Plenty VA's on the market look perfect, I just want to avoid ghosting again

Difference in image height is nearly 6cm, which is major amount smaller.
What marketing means when saying wider screen is more desk space hogging for vey small image height.

True although it was the closest IPS i could find similar to the height of my current 32" with a high refresh rate.

My alternative option would be a VA with the potential for smearing/ghosting again.

Don't know why you'd want either,TBH.

..1440p looks terrible on a 32in screen, whether its VA or IPS.

Only 4K looks decent on a 32in screen.

I came from a 1080p 27inch ips to my current 32" 1440p and the difference is night and day.

When looking at a 4k 32" display the difference in my eyes is not that huge to be worth the higher cost. Then you also need a rig capable of running 4K smoothly.

I find 1440p is the sweet spot for improved visuals and performance without taking out a new mortgage
