Hi all,

Getting twitchy and considering changing my car, I love jap cars but there's nothing that takes my fancy other than a Mazda 3 MPS but I just dont need that much power

I keep looking at TFSI cars like the Golf GTI it fits the bill perfectly for what I would want for a next car, understated looks, around 200HP and 5 doors but I dont know if I trust them in terms of reliabilty, I'm not interested in DSG so other than that what are they really like to live with?

Octavia VRS 2L Turbo / Seat Leon Cupra.

No VW tax applied so will get a car with less miles and in better condition for your dollar.

The Octavia will be less flashy out of the two.

Lock the thread :D

No problems with reliability this end, as long as you find a looked after example. Day to day they are very flexible which is why I bought mine. I use it for work so it isn't overly thirsty but is also great on B-roads ;)

Depends when/what you're looking at but cam followers and Teves MK60 ABS (ASR light always on) aren't a great start. That said you get a lot more vRS for the money compared to the VW version. We had a Mk5 Golf and a Mk2 Octavia and they were mechanically almost identical as was the interior.

I had a passenger ride in an Edition 30, really nice car

I'm not sure on the Octavia's, bit too big, I've noticed Jetta Sports are a fair bit cheaper than the Golf GTI but its conflicting information as to whether they're the same car with a boot or not
