Just updated my vaio FW21L with a SSD (Vertex) and Win 7. Everything seems to have come well. But have lost the ability of the scroll part of the trackpad, is there any way to get it back?

Was thinking that it would be a good time to clean the heat exchange / fan unit at the same time. But after removing nearly all the screws, apart from the ones under the lip of the DVD. It seems that the DVD needs to come out, but I cannot figure out how it comes out, or what is the way to get the plastic bottom off.

Any help or directions any one can give would be most welcome.

Should I be going in through the keyboard?

Sorry if these are dumb questions but this will be the first laptop I will have take apart and i don't want to break things.

Use a plastic guitar pick or similar to dislodge the clips that hold the KB in, there might be a screw or two under there. In most modern Sony laptops I've worked on the bottom of the laptop comes off in one piece, regardless if the DVD drive is in or not though

If you've taken out all the screws from the base including the hard drive and under the battery, the dvd drive will just pull out allowing access to the screws under the dvd drive, then its a case of unclipping with a guitar pick, credit card or similar from the hard drive side and lift towards the vga connector, but be very careful of the wifi switch as the actual switch on the main board is VERY delicate and snaps of easily.
