Hi,
Can anyone tell me if this hsf would be powerful enough to cool down an overclocked E6600 (around 3.6ghz if I can)? Have had a quick look on zalman's site and it states there is a clip available so its compatible with socket 775 but no info on cpus.

Thanks for the help.

Mike

No way!! CustomPC mag just did a round up of CPU heatsinks and the Zalman Flower did miserably. In fact it was worse than the stock cooler. A good heatsink is the Freezer 7 Pro which can be had for as little as £11.49. Failing that you are looking at the Tuniq tower or the Noctua one.

Was always under the impression these things were pretty good. Live and learn eh, glad I asked.
thanks

Mike

You'd be pushing it at 3.6GHz. The 7000 is still a very good cooler, better than stock by some margin. I'd go for one of the tower style heatsinks like the Scythe Ninja, Noctua, Thermalright Ultra 120 or Tuniq Tower. :)

what about the zalman CNPS9700, the 9500 were great coolers, same design, bigger fan right?

I like to be able to choose my own fan so I can get the quitest performance.

The Zalman looks great, but that's about all it's got going for it compared to other similar coolers. :)
