Hi chaps,

My Focus is now four years old and due its next service. As this is first time I've owned a car this new I've always taken it for a manufacturers service, which costs an arm and a leg.

The Ford garage has offered to do their own in house service which costs £99 and gets me a stamp in the log book. Obviously I need to check what the difference is so that I can sweep up any missed parts that need a service afterwards, but would such a non-manufacturer service keep me in the 'full service history' bracket when I come to sell the car?

Full Service History always strikes me as 'could mean anything' anyway. I put full service history on my car advert when I sold my Fiesta, and I'd serviced it myself for the previous four years. Just means you can't say 'full Ford dealer service history'.

Why would you both getting a service when Ford prices are already more than reasonable? Many indepedents will probably charge you £70-80 for a service - why not just get it done at the dealer for £10 more?

EDIT: Wait, have i misunderstood something? I thought the "Value Service" was for cars over 3 years old?

I think he's saying a Ford garage offers a 'Value service' for £99 but it's not the same as the standard service you should get a Focus for £199 or whatever.

Personally I'd look at the service book and be happy providing I saw a Ford stamp and an invoice to go with every service, I would call that FFSH.
