Valve and codemasters reach a deal

So don't buy the damn games over Steam then.

It will revive older games such as Operation Flashpoint, much like how Quake was when id's games came on the system.

Steam is awesome now they've ironed out the bugs. Prices however don't really warrant it given you can pay slightly more (in some cases even less) and get a boxed copy with a DVD/CD that you don't have to worry about every time you reinstall.

Steam folder is monumentally big atm and is a major time consumer every time I reinstall.

i dont mind paying £1-2 more to get it on steam tbh. its very convenient, having it available to you on any pc you want. plus im pretty unorganised, many discs have been lost over the years.

i hope that one day every game will be available on steam, and NOT something like EA link or whatever they do

back it up then :)

And no, forget the DVD-Rs, external HD > all

Could always just make seperate partitions for steam?
Dont you have one for my documents? Music? Movies?

his post suites his alias to be honest! all the 1337 people know steam blows..

If valve keep gathering more titles to publish onto steam it wouldnt be so outrageous to expect prices to creep down, or more offers to appear - as valve will start to become a somewhat powerful publisher, it will bolster steam as a platform too, eventually meaning that the games in shops could become the more expensive novelty.

Then burn "namerofgame.gcf" to dvd ;)
(if it fits, dun dun duuuun!)

Or even better - don't have your Steam folder on your Windows partition!!

Then you can re-install Windows as much as you want!! All you have to do is re-install the Steam client, know where your Steam folder is, and possibly delete clientregistry.blob before starting Steam for the first time, so that it scans the right directory.

Steam is in a games folder on a Data partition, although given the size it's certainly warrants having it's own.

However, I think I might have a solution to my problem anyway. EP2 has utterly disappointed me, so much so I don't really see the need to have anything but TF2 and the The Ship installed so problemo solved. :)

I like steam tbh, its a shame the community sucks though too many OMG""!L337 kids on there to play out any game longer than 5mins. I used to play css a lot but with ratio's like 47kills 3deaths you just get accused of cheating and kicked from most servers >.<
