Valve game LAN errors.

Having a mini LAN weekend at my place, came across a random issue on any type of valve game (l4d, css, tf2, garys mod)

We create a server everyone can see/join the server bar 1 lad, he can never see owt in the LAN tab. Now if he creates the server we can all join fine?

We tried the basic off turning off his firewall etc but no joy :/

This is likely a DNS or WINS issue. He should check that TCPIP is set to DHCP with no overrides.

Also go to an admin command prompt and enter

IPCONFIG /FLUSHDNS

then

NBTSTAT -RR

to flush all name caches.

The latter command is case sensitive and the switches must be in upper case.

Give him the IP & port.

Open console:

connect ip:port

Thanks, the FLUSH and NBTSTAT didnt work.

Idiot question how do you find your IP / port for the server? is it just the hosts PC's IP?

Did you check the TCPIP details?
