The pics are quite old too. If you check the date on the desktop you can see they're from the 25th of July.

Saw this on Reddit (unconfirmed rumours): 150 degree FoV, higher res than vive pro, competitively priced, bundles with HLVR, some sort of special sense headphones (maybe razer hypersense?).

Pretty interested given the recent less than inspiring oculus developments.

How can you tell that they're crappy? (Genuine question)
Are they Fresnel lenses? What's the alternative?

Yes Fresnel lenses. Same lens they put in the Vive and other VR headsets.
I done the lens change on my vive and it's way better, with no side affects for me,
 
i did the gear vr lens mod to my vive and it was a huge improvement ....lets hope that these lenses are just as good or at least we can mod it
 
Do hope this turns out to be good, would love 150degree fov i remember reading back when they were doing VR in the 90's that they found that a wide fov was more important than even stereo 3D for immersion although i think having both is even better :).
