Valve Index 2 (codenamed Deckard) Standalone

edit... forgot to quote.... @Ravenger

agreed... the panels sound "meh"
the more i read about the controllers the more impressive they sound. way more tracking LEDs to stop occlusion and actualy its a fully fledged xbox pad as well with all buttons and dpad which is nice.

also the compute built into the headset sounds strong... significantly more than that of the quest 3.

though i wonder how much it will help, it may end up a bit like the quest pro.... more powerful than a quest 2 but not powerful enough to run quest 3 titles.

only in this case it may be more powerful than a quest 3 but not powerful enough to run PCVR properly.

all in all it sounds ok but really odd choice of panels and smaller FOV than the index.

i really think each generation should match the previous AT LEAST in every single aspect, ideally with across the board iterative improvements everywhere.

also shame about no colour passthrough for mixed reality.

I'm gonna say it, I think it's utter turd!

Years in development and it's basically a pico 4 painted black (with a worse strap and floppy cable), slightly better SOC, running steam software (which you can stream anyway over link)

Obviously I'm not the target customer, but looks like I'll be getting the 4k pimax dream air for my next upgrade

It's a good alternative to a Quest 3 if you don't want to deal with Meta and their screwy updates.

I'm just disappointed as it's not a clear upgrade from Quest Pro or Quest 3 for PCVR, due to the LCD panels.
if it was about the same price as q3. i may have jumped ship
