So I bought a brand new sealed Index from someone who got it on July 1st, So 1 from the brand new batch, He took advantage of the extreme wait times the Index has and sold it at a marked up price to me as I didn't feel like waiting 8-12 weeks, Not much more, Like £50 more.

Anyway this person is soon moving country so I will not have contact with him for quite some time so no help should warranty be needed, I take care of anything I have like it's a new born baby, With that being said what is the failure rate on these things ? Reason I ask is because Valve replied to me stating that warranty is null and void even with a receipt, Order number, Actual item purchased that has never been opened etc... if said item is no longer in the original buyers possession.

Had mine over a year, nothing wrong with it yet. That said the device is quite fragile, you'll be thankful that you take care of things.

I think the base stations will be the first to go (on my end) i have had them over 4 years, they seem to be the major source of peoples problems, more so with the V 2's oddly.

One of the reasons i've ordered the G2, a backup for the day they pack up.

The headsets seem to be fairly reliable. There have been a few cases reported of DOA headsets with rainbow colours across an LCD. Another frequent issue that's reported is the speakers arms being loose, which you can fix with a rubber grommet which is normally used in the packaging to tie up the charge leads.

The controllers however seem pretty problematic. Stick drift issues are very common after a using them for a while, and one of my controllers wouldn't track (banging it fixed it, so loose connection possibly).

I had to re-install windows and now the lighthouse bluetooth is playing up - one of the lighthouses won't sleep when exiting VR. It's not a big issue as I generally unplug the lighthouses when not using them (They're plugged in under my desk) and I'm going to get smart plugs for the whole setup so I can turn the index and the base stations off remotely.
