This game is awesome! How did this get so overlooked? I think I've almost completed it.

It reminds me of Morrowind in some respects, except less 'fiddly' (i.e. no filtering through barrels full of bones). And it's got a great atmosphere, you really feel like you 'fit' into the world and it's characters, really moody lighting, great character development etc.

Agreed :) I think it gets overlooked because its buggy and people dont have enough patience these days.

What class did you go? What stage are you at? and which side did you decide to side with?

What did you think of the werewolf bit? :D where it chases ya :p

did you manage to get it on with a certain malkavian vampire-ess? ;) (Jeanette she hangs out at the nightclub)

Did you have to be playing a male character for that to happen? I tried (was roleplaying a lesbian vampire ;) ) but just like irl, no luck with the ladies :(

Great game though - only criticism is that as usual, sword fighting sucks.

went back to see her later in the game ( i think you have to have helped her her in her mission earlier) i think i was a ventrue (domination abilities aka forcewill hehe) Dont think you get to see the action though.. just hear it.
But yeah i always go back through areas ive done just to check if somethings different :)

didnt do swordfighting i think i had a 2 handed hammer but yeah melee- fighting was a tad repetitive.

Well I've completed it... got the werewolf... christ I was bricking it lol... far too much use of quick save. Awesome game, I won't give any of the plot away for those that haven't played it.

You can play this in widescreen.

Instructions (you must do in this order):
1. Install game
2. Install official patch 1.2
3. Install user patches (I used v3.4)
4. Install resolution changer from here: http://files.vgpro.com/file/5978

Make sure you copy the res patcher to your /bin/ directory and then run it, click 'widescreen' to open up widescreen settings in game

This was one of the most under-rated games ever, its so so good

I never played the first in the series but this was just awesome. The voice acting in it is superb as well, really helps the immersion, which is really good due to the storyline being so well thought out

Jon, i must disagree with you there. Even whilst patch i do beleive the game is still somewhat buggy. I dont think the graphics are too impressive either.

Nope. I did it while playing a female malkavian. Can't even begin to imagine what sort of crazy, deranged sexual acts they got up to :D

There are a few player made mods which fix awhole lot of bugs, as well as implement new things in the game that Troika didn't have time to finish. Well worth checking out, I don't think they are backwards compatible with old saved games though. :(

Yeah, it is a great game. I played it through three or four times.

As for why it was largely overlooked? When it first came out it was almost totally unplayable. The code had a memory leak, the game was full of bugs, and it uses an incredibly early and un-optimised version of the Source engine (aka Half Life 2 engine).

I bought it when it first came out and tried to play it on my 6800 Ultra (top-of-the-range at the time of release). I just gave up and left it on the shelf for 18 months or so. I picked it up again when I had SLI 7800GTXs, but it still ran like a dog in places. The gameplay is great though.
