Hello,

I am trying to play Panama and I feel im playing the right notes but my tone is so terrible its unbelievable. I have a Std Strat and AD15VT and cant get anywhere near... Can someone suggest some settings to try, I have no idea what pickup is best, what settings for bass, middle, treble etc.... I always seem to be using the bridge pup for some reason.

Is my setup not adequate? I thought a modelling amp would be decent when I got this stuff around 3 years ago. I can get good tones on a lot of cleaner stuff easily but this just evades me, and its a damn shame as i'm in a phase where I love all the Van Halen stuff!!!

Cheers

howdy Dave...

something with a humbucker is a must, i usually find to achieve the brown sound i dial the mids right up ....

Definitely humbuckers but you shouldn't get that far off with a modeller.
When Van Halen first came over they supported Black Sabbath.
I was standing at the front to watch Eddie and every time he did a solo the git turned his back to the audience so we couldn't copy him :)
