Van Hire Under 25?

Hi Guys, I'm planning on moving house soon but struggling to find a van hire company when I'm only 22. Been driving for almost 4 years and hold a clean license. I'm up near Aberdeen. Any ideas?

the easiest option is to find a mate that has a van, hire is going to be very difficult below 25 really.

Yeah i'm 24 and had trouble. Had to get my Dad to drive for me in the end.

Odd, the van firms in Manchester used to be over 21s only when I was younger. Have they put the age up again?

You will find major companies are 25 local firms may allow 23. Atleast thats around here.

why are van companys like this. I occainsly borrow one of the works vans and they are crap to drive compared to a car so why do they insist on over 25

Nottingham here and was allowed to rent a ford transit luton box van. I am 23 £65 for the day.

Really does your liscence cover your for driving lutons? I thought photocard liscences didn't?

Having a photocard doesnt mean you cant drive a luton!

up to 3 1/2 ton, which is what most lutons come under

There were a few o21s around here when i needed one, we used Salford Van Hire in the end, for AGW

Yep thats the firm I used to use. They gave me a LWB Sprinter at 21 which proved a little bit of a challenge to manouver at the time.

Most places will rent to anyone if you provide your own comp insurance....

If you check the yellow pages for independents in your area, most of them will hire to over 21s. I've had no problems in the past.

Why not just call one of those 'man with a van' adverts. You will get a driver, van and an extra pair of hands for not much more than van rental.
