just returned from 3 weeks in vancouver - which was nice :)
hopefully took a fair few keepers, but have just had a play with some hdr ideas i had ... might well have overcooked the processing on the 2nd but thought id see what y'all thought ...

both shot with 350d and sigma 10-20mm - hand held (which kind of ruin them when hdr is applied - ghosting etc - any advice) - HDR & Tone Mapping in photomatix...

critique comments gratefully received

Holy cow at the first. Thats stunning. Wow. I'd say its a little big at 1024, 800x600 would fit into the forum nicely. Link to the larger version though as its well worth seeing. :)

they're both awesome, but i'd have cropped the beach bit out of the front of the second.

really good job

i love the first and the second is also good but like photomatrix tends to do, the buildings in that shot look almots painted on.

This below is one of mine and it has the same weird painted feel - not sure if i like it when it does that, it doesn't look real

glad you all seem to like them :) always good to hear - have a few more i've yet to process including a big HDR panoramic from stanley park that the 2nd is a single slice from ....
i do agree that HDR has its time and place
as for software used mint_sauce it was photomatix

thanks for all the comments guys - much appreciated

I need to learn how to do this. That first one looks wicked. Do you have the originals of what they looked like before?

am at work at the moment - but when i'm home ill root them out - although might sleep first - jet lag is a wounder at the moment

The 2nd one is definitely meant to be a landscape shot, not portrait IMO. This would mean having less of the beach.

The 1st one is amazing! Looks like an artists impression for a future cityscape. :)

What settings did you use in Photomatrix to do that?
