My computer runs Vanguard very well, even at the highest detail levels, and there's no denying that its a great looking game. The problem is that the game is so lacking in content I couldn't find any hook that made me want to keep playing.
The problem is that the content is so lacking that there is no reason for you to do this currently. I fear that SOE in time-old tradition are forcing this game out too early.
I agree it is a great looking game, I never played WoW so I do not have to see cartoon graphics in a MMORPG to think it looks good. Also Id suggest if u have not upgraded your PC in the last year and want to find a game that runs well on normal settings u look elsewhere (however I could add 40fps to make 70fps using lowest detail).
This game has more content than SWG had when it started, with the later expansion packs did they start adding quests above the "mission terminals". You can lvl your character using quests, up to the point I got to.
My first MMORPG was SWG so I expect to have a vast explorable world and an open sandbox style, with player driven economies and combat not being the only skill ingame. Crafting in SWG was one of the best examples of how it should be done, and Ive no doubt that Vanguard's system is equally complex (from what Ive heard it even has a twist that the final product depends on "failures" and your skill and materials to fix them).

It's riddled with bugs, broken quests, crashes and graphics glitches. There are huge chunks of content missing, and a lot of what's in there looks like it was thrown together in a huge hurry.
You played it for 1 night and found all these problems? Ive lvled a character up to 10, and I have encountered a grand total of 1 broken quest, which was the only broken quest i heard discussed in area chat. Its now been fixed for a couple of days.
What huge chunks are missing? In game chunks are meant to mean areas which are run on a certain server from what I can work out. You seem to be refering to content when using the word "chunk". How can "huge chunks" of content be missing when you have played 1 night? You must be a better beta tester than me if u can find all these problems.
Im just glad they didnt copy the UI targeting system from SWG : NGE, which is a complete mystery as to why there are 2 or more target cursors.
There are combat, diplomacy and crafting areas of skills and Ive just tested combat.
Its been discussed here too:

As far as broken quests go, quests are not mandatory and you can choose to abandon any quest. Therefore singular broken quest is not a game stopper. Some quests take the form of an "adventure game", where the objective is not handed to you on a plate and must be "discovered"; which could lead some impatient types to claim a quest is broken.
After playing City of Villains its nice to play a game which isnt confined to just the lvling of combat toons. Another problem with City of Villains is the almost non-existant end game content. I cant compare Vanguard for end game content unfortunately being only lv10.
