Im doing the West Highland way soon, and have noticed some bargain Vango tents.

I am torn between the Vango Mirage 200,

and the Vango Chinook 200.

Has anyone had any experience of these two tents?

Both Semi Geodesic, with the Chinook getting more online reviews, but only because its an older tent.

What do you experienced outdoors folks think of the look of the mirage, and how does the 2.9Kg of it compare to trekking with the Chinook at 3.7Kg?

the lighter the better if your carrying it!

Your not going anywhere particularly extreme so save the close on 1kg weight your legs will thank you.

How many of you are doing it? Solo take the Mirage (Which looks to be an evolution of the Boa) or if there's 2 of you take the Chinook - 400g each assuming you split the tent between 2 is acceptable for the extra space available

By no means is Vango bad quality, regardless of what anybody will say. TN however is definitely better if you're going full on light weight

I'd vote for TerraNova over Vango. Vango aren't bad perse, but I prefer TN

So is the general consensus that Terranova is a better brand than Vango?

Yeah, nothing wrong with Vango really but TN tents are often lighter, use better materials and hence are very popular among enthusiasts.
Vango have never been bad, in fact their Force 10 A-frame tents were fantastic in their day, however they no longer have any standout models and as a brand they're very middle of the road.
