Well... I'm still waiting for it from a Jersey competitor (ordered Sunday), so I'd EXPECT it to come tomorrow. But anyway...

I've found the Vanguard site not partticularly helpful, unless I'm missing something with it.

So can anyone give me a reasonable rundown of classes and/or races, their experiences with them etc. I'm a regular RPG/MMORPG player, so no need to explain it too simply, just a basic rundown. It will save me 3 hours of reading them in the manual and picking and choosing etc :p

Thanks guys :)

It's very difficult to be able to give you a rundown of the classes and races, since they're all totally varied. Your best resource would be http://www.silkyvenom.com. It has loads of information about all aspects of the game in the wiki section, and even goes as far as listing which races are not welcome in specific towns (although not all are up-to-date at the moment).

It's a good game but can be a bit overwhelming at first. It definitely has loads of potential though :)

Question is though, what kind of character / class have you chosen in past MMO's? If you can let us know, we might be able to suggest a good choice for you to try out.

I've mostly been very much a fighter, especially tanking. I find it fun, and of course necessary for any group... but yeah I like the big solid lump who gets hit by everything.

I alos like something that's a bit fun, like the Warlock class in WoW for example, while my 'lock is very low level compared to all my good chracter ('lock is level 50ish, others are 61+). But I enjoy it the most :)

So either some kind of fun caster with a bit of a twist perhaps, or just a basic lump of a tank I guess.

Are there any particularly original classes in Vanguard?

EDIT: Also, Dreadknight looks cool. Being able to look cool is a must :p

Druid is one of the more fun caster types - they're not a healer like in WoW, pure arcane caster with a lot of interesting spells.

My main is a disciple, cross between a monk and a cleric. Very cool class to play if you're looking at a healer - besides the basic healing spells they get a lot of abilities that only work after they've landed a few hits in combat, so if you can get in the thick of it at the same time as keeping everyone healed, they're much more effective. They can also feign death, which is brilliant if you group gets swamped and everyone starts to go down.
