As per title, can anyone confirm that this product fits the MSI K8N Neo2 Plat as my chipset cooler bearings are on the way out. :( I would fit a Zalman but no chance of that with a huge gfx card in the way. If anyone can confirm that would be great as it will save me un-plugging half my PC's guts to attempt measuring depth, width etc when i get home. ;)

I had one of those on my DFI and didn't rate it tbh. To noisy at high RPM and too hot at low RPM. No RPM wire either so the speed can't be controlled by the BIOS.

Got one of these instead. Even passive its v cool and because its offset you dont have to worry about the gfx card being in the way.

Yeah seen that before however ive heard some not so great reports when you have a huge GFX card with AC cooler attached on it like mine - so not an option. If the Vantecs are noisey then ill look for something else instead. :) Mind you depends what you call noisey, for example the GA-K8NS-939 mobo chipset cooler has been accused of been noisey on these forums in the past and tbh we cant here it at all with case closed on my bro's PC.

I have a Zalman VF900 fitted to my gfx and it has the same height profile as the AC series (~31mm)

Well like most small high RPM fans i found it annoying especially without the third wire allowing the BIOS to regulate fan speed in relation to NB temps. Also the push pins didnt give a tight fit and since no cushioning strips were provided it kinda rattled at high speed :)

If its like for like you want then the VC-RE is a popular choice. Can be had in the UK but not at OCUK unfortunatly.

Nehoo i'll dig my old Neo2 out tomorrow and check those dimentions for you.

Yeah the stock cooler sits ~14mm high and is 59mm between the two fixing holes so the Vantec will be fine.

Heh nice idea, although tbh by look of things that metal pin cross bar on VC-RE extends, did quick bit of re-searching the internet - so ill by one anyway and see how i go. ;)

Im sure the VC-RE will fit. Do a search of the Air Cooling section over at the XS forums, it was talked about a lot back when i was looking for a replacement a few months ago.

If its any help, I got a fair load of those Vantec Copper jobs from OCUK...

They fit in most of my Mobos...

MSI Neo2 & Neo4
DFI LanParty
Abit NF7 & NF7S

Couple of others too!

Although on the Neo4-f It has gone on just fine, the previous GFX Card ( ATI X1600Pro ) was a VERY TIGHT fit and the card, when pushed firmly down, also toppled the cooler and so it was not a good fit.... This is due to the position of the cooler vs the PCIE slot more than anything. Its been replaced with a 6800GT and its fine.

No, there is no speed wire, however, I have to say, that I have all the above boards and a few others ( Mostly non clockers Ill admit ) and not one of them can I actually hear the cooler spinning up, and in the case of the NF7S its allowed me to clock both my XP1700 and the XP2500 morereliably than I was able to with any other "Supposedly good" cooler?

I would actually say that they are among the most underated coolers out there! - the other junk you get with them however, is good for nothing... I have just taken a pile of them and cooled the bottom of an old Radeon 9800's RAM Chips, and that was only to avoid throwing them away.

Cheers for replys and advice peeps, here's how i resolved the now dead MSi stock cooler isssue >

'Evercool VC-RE' surprisingly will fit (only just), had to bend some copper fins directly below gfx board area + adjust support arm position due to almost touching something important, other than that was hassle free. Temps are good & cant hear it with the case closed. I purchased a the Vantec aswell which fits spot on, however it's a tad noisey (only slightly) + Evercool offering seems much better made in my opinion. :)
