I have been planning to water cool my new conroe machine, however I was wondering if I will get a much better overclock by using a Vapochill XE2 that I have been offered.

What would be a good price to pay for a 2nd hand XE2?

Would I need a new socket kit for a conroe chip, currently running a 3.2Ghz P4 Prescott?

Cheers, more questions to come no doubt

2nd hand xe2, 200 maximum.
vapo ls can be had for 250 2nd hand and mach 2's for around 250-300 for a really decent one.

if it has the 775 socket kit with it. it should have, they are universal. it should fit nicely

Would I be able to get the CPU to a high enough overclock to ever need anything better than the XE2?

I know it is a fairly old system but I like the looks and the fact that it is confined into a case.

Would that matter? Could it not go upto similar temps as air cooling?

wont go that high, if you start sticking 1.7v through the chip it will crank out the heat.

but the vapo will handle it to a certain degree, they are good units and the conroes have low power output
