Anyone with these set in XFire let me know what increases they saw in performance?

I know what you are expected to get, boost wise, but what have people actually seen in real gaming environments?

I've never tried xfire before so don't know if the extra £300 is a worthy investment or just me being a greedy nerd!!

My machine is a
  • AMD Phenom II X4 Quad Core 965 Black Edition running @ 3.8ghz
  • 8gb Corsair Dominator DDR3
  • Gigabyte GA-790FXTA-UD5
  • Titan Fenrir cooler
  • Corsair 850w PSU
  • 1x 5870 vapor-x
  • My boot drive is a OCZ Vertex Turbo 120gb with 2x Samsung F3 1TB hdd for storage
  • Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium 7.1 Sound Card
  • Samsung 8x BluRay ROM
  • Case will be changing to Coolermaster CM-690-II Advanced Dominator Case when I get round to ordering it this week
  • Windows 7 HP 64 bit
  • Dell 24" Widescreen LCD Monitor

I'm afraid I put both cards in at the same time, so don't really know what the improvement was! However, one card with cope with most things just fine.

Next time I have the PC on I'll do some tests with and without crossfire enabled for you, I might have time tonight or it might have to wait.

There are apparently 2 revisions of the card. The first version has the power coming out of the side, whereas the second has them coming out of the end - if you were to get another now it'll likely be a second revision. If the card you've got is first revision this might factor into your decision but won't be a deal-breaker.
