Driving into Bristol on the m5 through the variable speed section at 6:45 this morning and got double flashed. Hardly any cars about and all the gantries were unlit. I was doing about 84mph on the speedo so probably got caught at about 83mph.

Hmph :(

A few people in work have got fined for going through over 70mph when the nsl symbol is illuminated but if traffic is light and the gantries are unlit I've always breezed through at about 80 without a problem.. Until now.

Well hopefully they'll deal with it by fixed penalty, if an nip arrives I'll ask them to take into account how early it was and how light the traffic was, not had a ticket for 7years, very sorry etc.

You might get an offer of a speed awareness course. I have just attended one after being caught at 51mph in a 40mph limit.

It was a quiet road and a 40mph section between two 50mph sections - this is why I think I was lucky and offered the course!

I hope so, my last fixed penalty was just over 7 years ago so fingers crossed!

Update: I was flashed two weeks ago Saturday just gone and yet to receive anything in the post.

I've heard that if you don't hear anything within a fortnight you're in the clear. Fingers crossed!

Yup, they have to send the NIP (or the identify the driver) paperwork within 2 weeks otherwise you can argue it was too far back to realistically remember.

Though thats 2 weeks to send it, not when you get it, so check the sent date carefully.

Here's hoping nothing comes in the next few days then.
