After faceplanting into the door (boring story), I need a new pair of varifocal glasses. Pricing them up I can save at least £200 quid by going online and not going to Specsavers etc.

In the past I've ordered single vision glasses online (sunglasses, computer glasses etc) and they have been fine (from glassesdirect).

But given how critical the placement of the focal zones is within the glasses, I'd like to ask for advice on buying varifocal glasses online.

Are there any online sellers people can recommend - maybe one that sends you the empty frames and uses a photo of you wearing them to fit the lenses properly?

Cheers all.

I've used GD for standard prescriptions for years without fault and when I ordered my first set of varifocals (last year) I was impressed with their quality control if nothing else. It took almost 5 weeks to get the glasses, due to multiple failed internal quality checks. I opted for lenses with Transitions and Kodak Easy2.

have a look at some of the earlier threads , but the fitting 'online' is problematic ...
at a minimum (like when they are fitted professionallyV) you'd need to have tried the frame and determined vertical position of lense so that the zones of focus align with your head posture,

Anyone who has used specsavers , how extensive is their fitting process ?

looked back at the last 'fitting' I had which measures a lot of stuff to ensure varifocal lense is positioned correctly for frame. (eye glass distance ....)

This seems a good online store with branded essilor/hoya/nikon lenses from £175

I would need convincing that Specsavers own lenses are as good

For an online store how can they possibly get all the fitment details. ?
