some questions about the dell:

does this work with xbox 360 on the component inputs at 1080i?

can i play 1080p movies and clips on my pc on this in mpc?

is it safe and cool enough at the base to stand this on a hifi amplifier on my desktop due to ps2 and xbox 360 component cables having to plug into monitor for video and amp for audio?

can i run world of warcraft at 1920 x 1200 with all the effects and things turned up on this?

which games currently support this wide resolution mode?

Finally does this support ps2 480i/p and xbox 360 720p/1080i over component?

damn i need this monitor i cant even read all these colours on my hdtv lol :P

There are problems with 1080i in DVI but component looks to be fixed now. The A00 revision had problems but it should be okay.

YES!
Try downloading elephant's dream at 1080p. Looks gorgeous :p

Depends how big your amp is. The stand is quite large and monitor is quite heavy.

This also depends.
Do you have a £500 crossfire rig?!
I have a single X1900XT and it runs Half Life 2 and COD2 both maxed out with a decent frame rate. I get about 70 fps for HL2 and 1920x1200 and about 35-40 for COD2.

480i/p yes. I have my gamecube hooked up. The picture in picture works okay too, but they could have made the max size of it a little bigger.
720p over component - yes. this is the recommended method by Dell.
1080i apparently works too. http://forums.us.dell.com/supportforums/board/message?board.id=dim_monitor&message.id=58435

What i think so far of my new dell:

what banding?

wow at 1920 x 1200 with everything whacked up full on 7800gtx - stunning

beautiful shots of woodlands as a desktop background - amazing

1080i/p formula one videos and some 1080i music vids - fantastic

microcosm - a 1080i production from a french film festival about insects up close etc - woohoo!

so many windows on screen at once! and never have to side scroll again lol - easy!

component input is alrightish with xbox 360 but i might go for a vga cable for it as it certainly looks a little washed out on component but refresh times on it are fantastic.

bemaniac,

There was an ***** problem with my order, so it was cancelled late on Fri and as a result I'll have to wait until Wednesday to play now. However, the more negative opinions I read of the screen the more cold my feet get :(

Do you have a digital camera? If so, any chance of some in game pics? Would you run one quick test for me? When loading Windows XP, on the blue welcome screen, can you see banding in the top left hand corner of the screen (where the white turns to blue)? I've heard it really sticks out at you on this screen, so would be interested to know if this is true or not. Any chance of a close up picture of the welcome screen?

Thanks bud! :)

For reference, check this thread for images I uploaded. Do read the warnings I have attached though ;)

Basically they say my digital camera is carp.

i dont have that issue at all.

my one from ocuk today is perfect.

its the best picture i have ever seen in my life.

if banding is them faded bits you get on most lcd panels then this one seems to have none compared to all the other various lcd panels ive owned.

ive tried hyundai imagequest and sony trinitron plus samsung hdtv and none can match the sheer wow factor that hits me in the face playing on this.

oh my god world of warcraft is totally a more immersive ultimate game now................quake 4 is just mindblowing and 3dmark06? well lets just say if you have the gear to run it then your in for a widescreen treat.

i think im biased because of the amount ive spent yesterday but i firmly think it is worth every penny i spent and if you want a large monitor then what on earth else would you buy? its got the only warranty you'd want - same day exchange for several years!
