VAT on import charges from courier.

Evening all,

I've purchased a watch from the States and tax charges are due to FedEx. I was expecting the charge of 20% but the invoiced cost seems excessive.

So watch and postal charge cost £430 total. The charges from fedex are: duties £0.20, Tax (vat) £112.78 and a dispersment fee £12.75. Total fee is £125.82.

Does anyone know why Tax is 29%ish and not 20%?
